Riding the cable car going to Universal Studios…
Gearing up on our second day in Singapore, Madu and I rushed at the Universal Studios where new rides and adventure are found. Since we wanted to have the best view of the humongous globe that welcomes each visitor, we tried as much as we could to be early in this wondrous place. However, as we arrived, there were already lots of people taking photos of the “famous” globe. Yes, we were already too late. However, this didn’t restrain us from taking beautiful photos of the globe. Though we weren’t really able to get the perfect shot, still it made our day since this was one of the reasons why we wanted to visit the Universal Studios— to have our photos taken in front of the epic globe.
Dream come true!
As we started our adventure, Madu and I had decided to explore first the place before barging into the rides. We took photos of the attractions and started choosing the best rides for us. The place was divided into different areas, namely, Hollywood, Madagascar, Far Far Away, The Lost World, Ancient Egypt, Sci-Fi City, and New York. Each area offered exciting attractions and rides.

After exploring each area, we then went out and headed to Sentosa gateway to eat our lunch at Insadong Korea Town. This place is almost the same with the Malaysian Food Street. The only difference was that it’s classier and the food stalls had self-order kiosks where we got to choose, order, and pay for our food. Among the food restos, we chose Manna and Café Bar. Madu ordered Pork Cutlet Noodle which cost S$11.80 while I ordered Bulgogi Curry Rice which cost S$15.00. Though the curry was filled with exotic spices, still it was yummy. The side dish was delicious, too!

As the clock struck at 12 noon, we then started our ride adventures. We went back to the Universal Studios and chose the Crate Adventure in Madagascar. Since we went there on a holiday, there were many people queuing for the ride. It was too tiring waiting for our turn since it took us almost 1 hour to take the ride. At first, I just really wondered why many people were patiently queuing for this ride. Perhaps it’s a good ride— I thought to myself. Well, the long wait was over when finally we had our turn in this river boat ride with the four heroes, namely, Alex, Mart, Melman, and Gloria. As I experienced the ride, I was like disappointed since for me nothing was really special about it. It was just a boat ride with props and characters talking at the sides. For me, the ride was not just really for my age. It’s for the kiddos.
The longest line ever!
Trying to look for an exciting ride, we headed right away to the Puss In Boots’ Giant Journey. I could say that this ride was really fun since we could see from where we stood how the ride worked. Without any hesitations, we queued again until we reached the coaster. This suspended coaster ride really took our breath away since we kept on ascending and descending up above. Well, the last time I had my extreme ride was still last 2010 in Hong Kong Ocean Park. I thought I would still have the courage to take this kind of ride. However, when I was already there up in the air, I proved myself wrong. Again and again, I realized that I was no longer young, wild, and free. After the nerve-wracking ride, I was just so quiet and was still shocked of what just happened. However, to be honest, I had so much fun despite what I felt. That wasn’t the most extreme ride I’ve ever had in my life though. It’s just that I’m no longer used to those kinds of rides. (Tiguwang na jud!)
There you go!
Lining up again…
The Puss in Boots Ride
The fun in Universal Studios never stopped as we witnessed the Hollywood Dreams Parade which showcased the blockbuster movies and characters on the intricately designed floats. From where I stood, I saw Woody and Winnie Woodpecker, Alex the Lion and the penguins from Madagascar, the dinosaurs from the movie Jurassic Park, and a lot more. It was indeed a festive parade as the characters entertained us with their dance moves and cute gestures.
After the parade, Madu “begged” me to join him in the Transformers ride. This ride was the most queued ride since it’s a 3D ultimate battle against the forces of evil. What made this ride very special was that it made us also become a part of the scene in which we acted as freedom fighters together with Optimus Prime and the Autobots. The scene was jam-packed with action and musical effects that made us scream at top of our lungs. Indescribable! Though the line was really long, it was still worth all our while since the Ultimate 3D made us feel like we were part of the movie scene, ready to fight for our freedom.
Jam-packed Action at Sci-Fi City
Aside from the Transformers ride, I also got a chance to try the Treasure Hunters ride. It was only I who tried this ride since Madu found this ride very kiddie. This ride offered a treasure-hunt like journey. I guess it was the slowest among the rides I had tried. However, while I was riding, something went wrong. The ride got stuck, so I had to alight. Good thing was that the staff gave me a Universal Express ticket in which I got to choose the ride which I wanted without queuing for how many minutes or hours. Thus, I used the Express ticket to ride the Transformers ride.
Of course, we didn’t miss the chance to watch the sensational “live” water show— the Water World. This show offers intricate and dangerous stunts, amazing explosions, and exciting water splashes. It’s like we were in a live movie show packed with thrilling action. Among the live shows I had seen here and abroad, for me the Water World was the most exciting and surprising. The actors were really good, and their facial expressions and gestures were genuine. Two thumbs up!
The excitement continued as we plunged into the Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure! We really chose this ride to be the last on our list since we knew ahead of time that this ride would make us wet and wild. This thrilling river raft ride through the old habitats of the dinosaurs was indeed amazing since the dinosaurs secured us from the wild. It was so much fun soaking ourselves with the water. It was a pure adventure together with the dinosaurs. In order to save ourselves from the natural calamities, we got inside the hydroelectric plant in which our raft was lifted few meters high. Unknowingly, we were plunged again into the water. This ride was indeed full of surprises!
We got soaking wet…
Best ride!
Our adventure in the Universal Studios was truly memorable. It was a new experience for me since this was my first time to be in this place. Though we were not able to take all the rides, still I could say that Madu and I were very happy since we ended our day in this place with big smiles on our faces.
